The Mandal is involved in multifarious activities since 1996 and has started the cow care project in 2009 with the objective of nurturing the non-lactating cows and fostering natural surroundings.
While PMMVM is a team of women working towards women’s empowerment, it was the initiative of Mr. Maroti Kathewad who started the cow care project i.e. Shree Govardhan Gau Seva Prakalp. The project is based on the welfare of cows as well as other animals.
Since ancient times, the Hindus in India pray to the “cow” and consider the cow as the mother of all good beings. The cow is a source of inspiration and good omen. She is also a source of milk as well as natural manure and there are several therapies that have evolved around cow urine as well as cow dung. In agricultural work, the bull is mainly used to plough the fields.
As of date the project cares for a 100 cows and 50 calves and aspires to double the number in a short while. |
